GENERAL:


With the advent of 4K/UHD television, distribution of higher data rate video signals up to 11.88 Gb/s (12G-SDI) has become necessary which can't always be achieved via coaxial cable.

The IRT-6650-DTR is a transmit/receive (transceiver) module designed principally for use as a serial data fibre optic transmission link, using 9/125 µm single mode fibre, for 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI or SD-SDI/ASI digital video plus 10G/1G Ethernet applications. This enables the use of space saving fibre optic cable for reliable transmission of digital video and Ethernet signals over lengths greater than can be achieved with either coaxial cable or twisted pair.

The IRT-6650-DTR conforms to SMPTE standards 2082-1, 2081-1, 424M, 292M and 259M-C for digital video signals, as well as the DVB standard for ASI; and IEEE 802.2ae and 802.3z standards for Ethernet over fibre or IEEE 802.3an and 802.3ab standards for Ethernet over CAT-6/5 cable.

The Ethernet interface takes either an optical or electrical plug-in SFP+ module (sold separately) up to the 10G Ethernet standard. Lower rate SFP's such as 1000/100/10 Mb/s rates can also be used.

Transmit and receive functions of the video signals and Ethernet signals are combined via an on board CWDM optical combiner2 allowing combined bi-directional operation on a single fibre.

The IRT-6650-DTR is designed to fit the openGear® standard 2RU frames which allow a mixture of cards from various manufacturers to be mounted within the same frame.

Remote monitoring is possible via openGear's DashBoard™ control software, which is available as a free download.
